I'll be back on Monday. Enjoy the celebrations, fireworks and the irony of the amount of taxes you pay today compared to what the founding fathers fought against.

I wasn't sure if you were being flip or serious, but there are some significant differences between the taxes our founders fought against and the taxes we pay today. Their biggest beef was 'no taxation without representation.' Though I suppose you could argue the average Jane has no representation today either (but the corporations have plenty). The other thing is that we need to pay taxes for our educational system, military, police, streets, etc. I don't mind paying taxes because I like having schools for my kids, streets to drive on, someone to clean the streets and police to protect them. :-)
